A very valuable Swedish cultivar, raised as a hybrid of Clematis faurieri and Clematis sibirica. Charming double flowers of the shape of an open bell, 6-8 cm across, slightly nodding. White sepals with pale yellow stamens. Main and the most profuse flowering in April-May on old wood, but it continues blooming throughout the summer on new shoots. From June to autumn the plant is additionally adorned with light silky seedheads. No pruning required. Tolerates moderate soils and partial shade but good drainage is necessary. A healthy and quite undemanding climber. Ideal for fences, over rocks and old trunks, or for growing through shrubs and conifers. Makes good ground cover.
