Exceptionally long and profusely flowering variety. Tubular, scarlet outside and yellow within flowers, borne in whorls at the ends of shoots from June to October, followed by decorative, orange-red berries (July-October). Reaches a height of 3m (1m annually), stems twining clockwise around the supports. Performs well in moderately fertile soils on condition that they are not too acid or dry.
Particularly useful for sunny sites. In May it's often subject to attack by aphides, especially in excessively dry or hot positions. Suitable for growing over arbors, fences, gates, trellises or other supports.
Pruning: weak. In March-April prune back all stems that are dead, superfluously tangled or suppressing the growth of other plants. Every 5-6 years carry out renewal pruning.
