A common climber reaching 3m (1m of annual growth). Tubular, bright scarlet flowers are borne in whorls at the ends of shoots from June to September, followed by decorative, orange-red berries (July-October).It doesn't have any special soil requirements In May it's very susceptible to attack by aphides, especially when grown in dry and sunny positions. Well suited for scrambling over arbors, pergolas and other supports. Pruning: weak. In March-April prune back all stems that are dead, superfluously tangled or suppressing the growth of other plants. Every 5-6 years carry out renewal pruning.
