A popular climber reaching 3m (1m of annual growth). Ornamental, fragrant, creamy-white flowers, borne in whorls at the ends of shoots during May and June, followed by orange berries (July-October). Leaves obovate, green, the upper pair perfoliate, forming a disc subtending the inflorescence. It doesn't have any special soil requirements In May it's often subject to attack by aphides, especially when grown in dry and sunny positions. Well suited for scrambling over arbors, pergolas and other supports.
