A hardy compact and free-flowering cultivar. Large, purple-blue flowers with silvery reverse and red anthers are profusely borne in May-June and again in July-September. Suitable for growing over fences, walls, trellises and poles. It can clamber over natural supports e.g. deciduous or coniferous shrubs. Particularly useful for cultivation in small gardens or containers on terraces and balconies.Raised by C. Noble, United Kingdom. Introduced in 1876.
