One of the earliest and most profusely flowering varieties. Charming, deep blue flowers with conspicuous paler staminodes, giving the effect of doubling, produced during April and May. During summer and autumn these are followed by decorative silky seed heads, which become fluffy and gray with age. A very hardy plant with low requirements.
Ideal for growing over fences, walls, or scrambling over rocks and old stumps. Particularly useful for planting near small trees, shrubs and conifers. Blooms on previous year’s wood and no pruning is required if it doesn’t hinder other plants’ growth. In case of necessity, prune after flowering. It makes good ground cover.

Raised by G. R. Jackman, United Kingdom.
Introduced in 1959.
