One of the oldest large-flowered cultivars. Ever since its introduction in 1865 it has proved very popular and appreciated. Silky-white flowers with a central tuft of coffee anthers on white filaments. Pruned lightly it will bloom profusely from June to August, when cut back hard first flowers will appear a month later, but they will continue to be borne till September.
Best planted in a sheltered position, against a dark background. Suitable for fences, arbors, trellises, stakes and other garden supports. It can clamber through natural supports, e.g. deciduous and coniferous bushes, or dwarf shrubs.Raised by I. Anderson-Henry, United Kingdom. Introduced in 1870.
