A new Polish cultivar with dark violet flowers with a beautifully contrasting yellow center. Blooms abundantly over a long time, especially in well-lit locations.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Moderately sized flowers, 8-12 cm in diameter. They are single, dark violet and consist of 5-6 sepals. Stamens are yellow anthers set on violet-yellow filaments. The cultivar blooms from June until September and some flowers appear until the beginning of November. Leaves are light green, narrow and pointy, single, trilobed.

HOW IT GROWS: Pnącze; wspina się za pomocą ogonków liściowych. Rośnie umiarkowanie silnie, dorasta do 2-2,5 m wys. Climber; climbs with leaf petioles. Moderately strong-growing, reaches 2-2.5 m height.

WHERE TO PLANT:  Best suited for sunny locations. Thrives in fertile, permeable soil but will grow in most moderate soils if fertilized. The soil pH should be neutral to slightly acidic. Hardy (zone 4-9).

HOW TO PLANT AND GROW: Place the plant in a pit (60 x 60 x 60 cm) with fertile soil and a 10 cm draining layer at the bottom, 5-10 cm deeper than it grew in the container (planting tutorial). Requires hard pruning. At the turn of February and March, it is enough to remove the dead shoots, and prune the live ones: in the first year at 30 cm from the ground, above the strong buds, and at 40-50 cm in the following years (pruning tutorial). In mid-April it should be supplemented with a slow-release fertilizer (e.g. Osmocote 5˗6M). Water during the season.

HOW TO APPLY: Suitable for growing by free-standing supports or those placed by walls, as well as for covering pergolas, arbours and fences.

ORIGIN: Raised by Szczepan Marczyński, Poland. On the market from 2024 r. More about our cultivars...
