Fantastic perennial variety. Abundantly and profusely flowering all summer. It has violet-blue flowers with visible darker bar in the middle of the sepals. Not climbing variety.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Single, upward-facing, open flowers, 10–12 cm in diameter, composed of 4–6 sepals. Sepals are violet-blue with a broad darker central bar, elliptical with edges curled outward. Stamens have yellow anthers on greenish cream filaments. Blooms from June to September. Leaves are dark green, matte, simple or ternate.

HOW IT GROWS: a perennial; primitive climber whose stems do not cling to supports. Grows at a moderate rate and reaches up to 1,5 m in height.

WHERE TO PLANT: Prefers sunny locations with fertile, well-drained soils of neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Tolerates heavier clay soils. Fully hardy (zones 4–9).

HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Plant in a hole (30 × 30 × 30 cm) filled with fertile soil and a few centimeters of drainage at the bottom, 0,5–1 cm deeper than it was in the pot (planting tutorial). Very easy to grow. In early spring, cut dead stems to the ground and live ones to 5–10 cm (pruning tutorial). In mid-April, apply a slow-release fertilizer (e.g., Osmocote 5–6M). Water during the growing season.

HOW TO APPLY: Looks best when combined with other plants, especially those with yellow foliage. Can be grown on low supports (requires tying) or used as ground cover. Thrives in containers.
