An outstanding new cultivar yielding fruit of a unique yellow amber colouring, larger and sweeter than  the average in the species. Goji berries have been used for centuries in traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Tibetan medicinal arts.

This cultivar’s fruit  (the batch of 25.08.2015) have been tested in the Medical University of Gdańsk. The results proved the berries  don’t contain any alkaloids harmful to humans.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Fruit of unusual, yellow amber colouring, edible and tasty, sweet without a bitter aftertaste, commonly known as Goiji berries; ripening in August-October. When fully ripe, they can be eaten fresh or dried. They can be added to various dishes or drinks e.g. tea. With 2500 mg vitamin C per 100 g they come third on the list of vitamin C-rich plants. They are also rich in vitamin B and vitamin E as well as in microelements: zinc, iron, copper, calcium, germane, selenium and phosphorus. Goji berries contain 21 minerals and 19 amino acids indispensable for our health. Fructification starts in the 2nd-3rd year after planting. Flowers small, 0.7-2 cm across, crimson-beige, opening in June-August. Leaves green, lanceolate. Shoots trailing, overhanging.

HOW IT GROWS: A primitive climber, does not attach itself to supports but it can lean on them (like a trailing rose). The shoots when left without supports, overhang in arches. Moderate growth strength up to 2-2.5 m height, the annual growth rate 0.5-1 m.

WHERE TO PLANT: Prefers sunny sites. Undemanding. Frost hardy (zones 5-8).

HOW TO PLANT AND MAINTAIN: Before planting immerse the plant container in water for 10-30 min. Place the plant in a 40 x 40 x 40 cm hole with a 10 cm layer of well-rotten manure or compost, 0.5-1 cm deeper than it was before. Fill the hole with fertile soil. Plant at least 30 cm from walls or other plants. Easy to maintain.

HOW TO APPLY: In house gardens and allotments.

ORIGIN: The cultivar native to China. Introduced in the market by CLEMATIS The Source of Good Climbers in 2016.
