Single or semi-double flowers, 8-10 cm across, most often composed of 4 blue Violet tepals and green white staminodes. Flowers appear in late April – May and later turn into fluffy seed heads that decorate the plant until autumn. It grows 2-3 m high and attaches itself to the support with leaf tendrils. Very hardy and undemanding. Tolerates semi-shade. Particularly useful for growing close to fences, stones, old tree stumps, deciduous and coniferous bushes. Makes good groundcover.
